CommuniCare Health Centers Receives Capital Improvement Grant
June 29th, CommuniCare Health Centers (CCHC) received a $1.447 million capital improvement grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to fund construction of the organization’s new community health center in Kyle, Texas.
“This grant will make it possible for us to build a new health center and expand services to help the medically underserved in the northern part of Hays County,” said Debbora A. Thompson, CEO of CommuniCare Health Centers. “CommuniCare is committed to improving access to care for all uninsured, underinsured and underserved residents of Hays County, so having a Kyle clinic, in addition to our health center in San Marcos, should significantly increase access,” said Thompson.
Located next to Science Hall Elementary and near the new Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle, the health center’s focus will be providing high-quality medical, dental, behavioral health and health education services to the underserved residents of Kyle, Buda and the surrounding areas.
CommuniCare Health Centers – Kyle will receive some operational funding from the Seton Family of Hospitals. “CommuniCare’s new health center in Kyle will provide greatly needed quality, preventive care to the uninsured and underserved residents of the area, and Seton is pleased to support its efforts,” said Herb Dyer, VP and COO of Seton Medical Center Hays.
CommuniCare Health Centers currently has two clinics in San Antonio: the Barrio Family Health Center on the city’s west side and the Dr. Frank Bryant Health Center on the east side. In February 2009 CommuniCare opened its first clinic outside of Bexar County, CommuniCare Health Centers – San Marcos, which has been met enthusiastically by the local community.
